An IT Administrator also known as a Systems Administrator is responsible for the management and maintenance of all IT infrastructure, servers, computer networks and security systems of an organization. They ensure that all the IT infrastructure are in perfect working order for the smooth flow of work through:
- Maintenance, repair and upgrade of the operating system including hardware and software.
- Installation of network and computer systems.
- Monitoring the performance of existing computer systems and IT infrastructures.
- Unification or / and customization of client operating systems, email servers, firewalls, and internet.
- Immediate resolution of security or usability concerns.
- Resolution of helpdesk requests
- Backing up data.
Basic Skills and Qualifications

Technical skills:

- Maintenance of computer systems, including local area networks, wide area networks, intranets and other data systems.
- Knowledge of computer programming language.
Critical Thinking and Problem-solving skills
- Collection and analysis of information to quickly fix technical problems and for decision making.
- Evaluation of networks to ensure they are performing reliably.
- Anticipation of new requirements to update IT systems as the needs of an organization change.
