A Financial Analyst is valuable to a business because they are responsible for the financial planning and analysis of financial matters of an organization which enables the management team make well-informed and important commercial decisions. This they do by determining the best use of resources to achieve business objectives as well as monitoring financial movements within the market.

A Financial Analyst job description typically includes:

  • Researching and analysing current and past financial data to  identify trends and obtain useful financial information.
  • Preparing reports from the researched and analyzed information to communicate the insights to the management and other relevant teams in the organization.
  • Looking out for different investment opportunities and consulting with the management team to  make long-term profitable financial plans.

  • A high level of mathematical / statistical ability. 
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn to use analytic software and tools for statistical analysis and financial forecasting. 
  • Critical thinking and attention to details. 
  • Ability to research and keep informed with current industry updates and practices.
  • Teachability and willingness to learn.
