  • Create illustrative models to direct and supervise developers they collaborate with on how to write the code for the Programme.
  • Testrun software, collaborating with other computer specialists to make sure the software is working properly as intended.
  • Keep a record of softwares in need of future upgrades and enhancements. 
Basic Skills and Qualifications
To pursue a role as a Software Developer, you need the following basic skills:
  • Good communication skills (active listening, verbal and written communication).
  • A high level of mathematical ability. 
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn writing code with Programmes like Java among others.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-solving skills. 
  • Planning and time management skills to meet deadlines. 
  • Attention to detail, precision and accuracy. 
  • Teamwork / interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to consistently Upskill to remain abreast with new technology in their field of expertise.
Where you can work as a Software Developer
As a Software Developer, you can work in-house, as a freelancer or with a Software Development agency to provide services for government, corporate or business organizations and industries such as: 
  • Software development companies, Financial institutions (like banks, insurance companies, exchanges etc.)
  • Technology consultancies
  • Telecommunications companies
  • Public and private sector organisations
That utilize and rely on technology for day-to-day activities.

How much you can earn per year
As a Software Developer, you can earn anything between N150,000 to N600,000 and above per month depending on where in the world you get the job or based on the quality and / or quantity of clients you work with if you are a freelancer.
